A white sapphire is any gem quality corundum that's colourless or white.
Natural sapphires are  extremely rare.
Fun fact: 
Most white sapphires are not really white.
White sapphires usually have blemishes. They also attract much dirt, which means one has to clean it more often.

Cost wise, they are the least expensive of all sapphire options.
