A white opal
White Opals are white coloured, semi-precious gemstones of the silicate mineral family, made up of silica and water. This silica takes the form of hundreds of hydrated microscopic silica spheres. They rank 5-6.5 on the Mohs mineral hardness scale. They are the lightest of all Opal options, with a body tone of N8 to N9. They are also known as the milky opal.
It usually exhibits a unique kaleidoscopic display of colour, a rainbow-like glitter effect.
They first appeared in Kenya in 4000 BC!
White Opals are much more plentiful than other Opal options, consisting of about 60% of all opals in the world.
These stones promote balance, openess, and positive thinking, which are helpful tools when navigating a relaxing. Believed to boost optimism, soothe anxiety and reduce Insomnia.
Ancient Romans attributed hope and innocence to white opals, while Arabs and Peruvians saw opals as a divine gift!
